Available in various sizes.
Light: Provide bright, indirect sunlight. Fiddle Leaf Figs thrive in bright, filtered light but can also tolerate some direct sunlight. Place your plant near a south- or west-facing window where it can receive plenty of natural light without being exposed to harsh, direct rays.
Watering: Water your Fiddle Leaf Fig thoroughly when the top inch or two of the soil feels dry to the touch. Ensure proper drainage to prevent waterlogging, as Ficus lyrata is susceptible to root rot. Avoid overwatering, as it can lead to leaf yellowing and other issues.
Humidity: Fiddle Leaf Figs prefer moderate to high humidity levels. In the drier climate of South Africa, you can increase humidity by misting the leaves regularly or placing a humidity tray filled with water beneath the plant. Grouping plants together can also create a microclimate with higher humidity.
Temperature: Ficus lyrata prefers warm temperatures between 18°C to 25°C (65°F to 80°F). Avoid exposing it to sudden temperature fluctuations or drafts, which can cause stress and lead to leaf drop. Protect it from cold drafts during winter, as temperatures below 10°C (50°F) can damage the plant.
Fertilizing: Feed your Fiddle Leaf Fig with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half-strength every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce or eliminate fertilization during the cooler months when growth slows down. Over-fertilizing can cause salt buildup in the soil, so it's essential to follow the recommended dosage.
